The previous Walk For Them brought together more than 700 participants and raised more than R250,000. Through Spear Foundation and Gugulamini, the initiative reached more than 600 beneficiaries. The 2026 edition builds on this impact by taking Walk For Them to two cities.
All proceeds from Walk For Them are ring-fenced for pre-vetted non-profit organisations supporting initiatives that respond to gender-based violence and assist affected communities. Participation in the event therefore contributes directly to the social impact that Walk For Them is intended to create.
Walk For Them forms part of Transnet Port Terminals' response to the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence. The initiative uses walking and running as a visible act of solidarity, bringing communities together to raise awareness, generate support and contribute funds to organisations working in the GBV space. In 2026, Durban and Gqeberha carry this message together: Two Cities. One Shared Commitment.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the partners, donors and sponsors who make Walk For Them possible: Sisonke Athletics Club, Aquelle and Eastern Province Athletics Club.
